About us

Maria LB Solicitors is a personal injury and dental negligence practice based on Oxford Road in Altrincham. We are authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, and the firm is led by its principal, Maria Lloyd.

We act for claimants only

This is the part that matters most, and it is worth being blunt about it. We provide legal services to injured parties. We never act for insurance companies, employers, or the other parties who caused injuries.

Plenty of firms do both. There is nothing improper about that, but it does mean their commercial relationships sit on both sides of the argument. Ours do not. When we tell you an offer is too low, there is no other client of this firm who benefits from you accepting it.

You will know who is running your case

A claim is a long conversation about something that has gone badly wrong in your life. It should not be conducted through a call centre, a portal, or a series of people who each have to read the file from the beginning.

Our clients deal with the person handling their claim. That is easier for a small firm to promise than a large one, and it is a deliberate reason to stay small.

Six languages in one office

Between us we speak English, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Belarusian and Gujarati. If English is not your first language, you can explain what happened in your own words rather than through a relative or an interpreter. That matters a great deal when the details of an injury are what the claim turns on.

Nationwide, from Altrincham

Our office is in Altrincham and we are glad when clients come in. But most of a claim runs perfectly well by telephone, email and video, and we act for people all over England and Wales. If your injuries make travel difficult, we will come to you.

What we do not do

• We do not buy enquiries from claims management companies, and we do not sell yours to anyone.
• We do not encourage claims we do not think are worth running. If you have not got a case, we will say so at the first conversation.
• We do not settle a claim before the medical picture is clear, simply because an early offer is on the table.

Regulated, and accountable

We are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority under SRA number 634387. That brings obligations that claims management companies do not have: professional indemnity insurance, client money protection, a formal complaints procedure, and ultimately the oversight of the Legal Ombudsman.
